This game is a Massively Multi-player Online (MMO) type game that follows the theme of The Lord of the Rings. You can play several different types of classes (Burglar, Hunter, Captain, etc..) with several different types of classes (Hobbit, Elf, Dwarf and Human) in a style similar to World of Warcraft.

You can run different quests either solo or in a team of friends, and the Lotro system support free as well as pay versions. The free version has most of the functionality as the pay versions, but doesn't allow for money operations (I think it's a way for them to say "If we don't make money from you in the real world, then you won't make money in our world"). You can "buy" upgrades and unlock items using turbine points, which you can either earn in game or can purchase them through their online store (using real world money).

Seems to be a pretty fun game, but with a 7 to 10 gig download (for the low or high resolution client) as well as semi-slow advancement, this may or may not be a game we play depending on interest and availability among the other people.  If you are interested in the game you can find it here: Lord of the Rings Online
