We, at NerdLingo, are dedicated to our goal of making technical terms a little less technical. Our idea is to help people understand some of the terms, acronyms, and abbreviations (AKA: "NerdLingo") that are tossed around when "the people in the know" (AKA: Nerds) are talking about anything dealing with computers.

So... How about a tour!

Maybe you are a parent who has been trying to monitor your kid's chat sessions but cannot make heads-or-tails of the garbledygook you are seeing on the screen. We are here to help! We have compiled nearly 1200 common abbreviations and nearly 300 common emoticons which are easily accessible below the menu bar above. Look up and see the words Chat Abbreviations and Emoticons.

It may not be easy to translate all these terms but WE ARE GOING TO TRY!!!! We are not providing the strict technical definitions, but a toned down description that will hopefully give lesser nerds a slight grasp on what the Uber Nerds are talking about!  Over to your left and just below our logo, if you are looking for a specific term, try the Translate NerdLingo feature. If you want to find ALL occurances of a specific term, use the Search feature on the main menu. If we don't have the term you are looking for, Request a definition and we will find it and add it to the site. If the term could have multiple contexts, please provide the context you desire...

Check out the top, another goal is to provide some information on Tips and Tricks... on how to do some of the easier computer upgrades. (SSSSSHHHH, it is a little known fact that many of the things nerds do are not that hard and could be done by anyone with a tiny bit of guidance. Just don't tell anyone I mentioned that because it is a "geekret"!!!) Eh-hem... Sorry about that. Maybe YOU have a Tip or a Trick YOU would like to share. We can deal with that too!
